A Redding Employees’ Association Board Meeting was held on Tuesday, April 10, 2018 in the Executive Conference Room at City Hall. President Chris Glover opened the meeting at 12:11PM.

Roll Call

Board Members present were: President Chris Glover, Treasurer Sonja McKinney, Secretary Mieke Sheffield, and Directors at Large Jenny Hui, Ana Gilliland, and Margaret Yarnell. Members: Michelle Kempley, Steve Kincaid, and Elizabeth Saechao.

Approval of Minutes

Sonja M. made a motion to approve the minutes of the March meeting as submitted by Mieke S. and published in the March Grapevine. Margaret Y. seconded the motion.
The Vote: Unanimous YES

Approval of Treasury Report

Sonja M. reported the March bank statement had not yet arrived and a Treasury Report was not available.

Old Business

  • Easter Egg Hunt (Recap): Weather was great for the event and 101 kids participated. Chris G. stated total cost of the event was $618.29, which was $18.29 over the original budget of $600. Mieke S. made a motion to increase the event budget to $618.29, Margaret Y. seconded the motion.
    The Vote: Unanimous YES
  • Brewery Event (Update): **TENTATIVE EVENT** It was decided that first choice is to have the event at Final Draft on May 3rd, 5pm to 7pm. REA members in attendance would receive a $10 voucher good towards food and/or drink. REA Board voted to approve a budget not to exceed $1,000 for the event: Sonja M. made a motion to approve the budget, Jenny H. seconded the motion. **An event update will be sent out via email.**
    The Vote: Unanimous YES
  • Website (Update): Work on setting up website security measures is in progress. Ana G. welcomes input on website content.
  • Summer Picnic (Update): The event originally scheduled on Sep 8th at WaterWorks has been cancelled. Michelle K. and Ana G. are coordinating a Summer Picnic that will be of no cost to REA members. A tentative venue is the Redding Aquatic Center. REA Board voted to approve a budget not to exceed $2,000 for the event: Mieke S. made a motion to approve the budget, Margaret Y. seconded the motion.
    The Vote: Unanimous YES
  • REA Golf Tournament (Update): Event will be held on Friday 5/18 at Gold Hills. Format will be similar to last year: 18 holes scrambled, 4-person teams, lunch provided. REA Board voted to approve a $500 budget for the event: Ana G. made a motion to approve the budget, Mieke S. seconded the motion.
    The Vote: Unanimous YES
  • New Business

  • COR Employee Appreciation Luncheon: A donation request was received from the event coordinator. REA agreed to donate 3 raffle baskets…each basket’s value not to exceed $75. Chris G., Sonja M., and Mieke S. will each prepare a basket. REA Board voted to approve a budget not to exceed $225 for the event: Chris G. made a motion to approve the budget, Ana G. seconded the motion.
    The Vote: Unanimous YES
  • Cinco de Mayo: Ana G. asked if it would be possible to bring back a Cinco de Mayo event, possibly not until next year. REA members in attendance were in agreement that it would be a great event to bring back.

    The meeting was adjourned by President Chris Glover at 1:10PM. The next meeting will be held at noon on Tuesday, May 8, 2018 in the Executive Conference Room on the third floor at City Hall.
