A Redding Employees’ Association Board Meeting was held on Tuesday, July 10, 2018 in the Executive Conference Room at City Hall. President Chris Glover opened the meeting at 12:09PM.

Roll Call

Board Members present were: President Chris Glover, Vice-President Trisha Oliphant, Treasurer Sonja McKinney, Secretary Mieke Sheffield, and Directors at Large Jenny Hui, Margaret Yarnell, and Ana Gilliland.
Members: Michelle Kempley.

Approval of Minutes

Jenny H. made a motion to approve the minutes of the June meeting as submitted by Mieke S. and published in the June Grapevine. Margaret Y. seconded the motion.
The Vote: Unanimous YES

Approval of Treasury Report

The June bank statement arrived today; no June Treasury Report available.

Old Business

  • Website (Update): The purchase of a SSL Certification is recommended to prevent spam email to REA members upon accessing the REA website. Mieke S. made a motion to approve the purchase of a SSL Certification not to exceed $100 annually. Margaret Y. seconded the motion.
    The Vote: Unanimous YES
  • Summer Picnic (Update): Event is set for Sunday 8/19 from 4pm to 7pm at the Redding Aquatic Center. 67 people have RSVP’d to date.
  • Vending Machines Contract (Update): Still waiting on Glen-Pye to submit a corrected contract.
  • Brewery Event (Update): Tentatively set for early September 2018, possibly October 2018.
  • Tables for Patio Area: Costco had sold out of the tables. Trisha O. will check other vendors. A sign will be posted on the patio asking users to move the tables back to the railing when finished, to prevent tables from being moved by the wind and damaging the rooftop.
  • Christmas Party – Hoedown (Update): Elks Lodge has been reserved for Friday 11/30/18. Mieke S. made a motion to approve payment of a $500 deposit to Elks Lodge. Margaret Y. seconded the motion.
  • The Vote: Unanimous YES

  • Halloween Kids Party: An event coordinator is still needed for this event. Please contact Chris G. if interested.
  • New Business

  • SnoCone Machine: Trisha O. donated a SnoCone machine to be used at REA functions only.
  • Financial Records: It was decided that REA financial records needed to be kept for 7 years. Sonja M. will dispose of any records prior to 2010.

    The meeting was adjourned by President Chris Glover at 12:54PM The next meeting will be held at noon on Tuesday, August 14, 2018 in the Executive Conference Room on the third floor at City Hall.
