A Redding Employees’ Association Board Meeting was held on Tuesday, January 8, 2019 in the Executive Conference Room at City Hall. President Chris Glover opened the meeting at 12:09PM.

Roll Call

Board Members present were: President Chris Glover, Vice-president Ana Gilliland, Treasurer Sonja McKinney, and Secretary Mieke Sheffield

Approval of Minutes

Margaret Y. made a motion to approve the minutes of the December meeting as submitted by Mieke S. and published in the December Grapevine. Ana G. seconded the motion.
The Vote: Unanimous YES

Approval of Treasury Report

Mieke S. made a motion to approve the December Treasurer’s Report. Margaret Y. seconded the motion.
The Vote: Unanimous YES

Old Business

  • Paint & Drinks Event (Update): The Paint and Drinks event is scheduled for Friday 2/15/19 in the Community Room, 6pm to 8pm. Only 40 spots available…first paid, first served. Cost for REA members is $15/ticket for the first 2 tickets. Additional tickets are $30/ticket (additional tickets can only be purchased after 2/1, if tickets are still available). Cost for non-REA members is $35/ticket. REA will provide snacks. Attendees to bring their own alcoholic or non-alcoholic beverages. No beverages will be sold at the event. REA is paying rental fee of $157 for use of the Community Room due to the presence of alcohol. Ana G. made a motion to approve a budget for the event not to exceed $1,000. Natasha R. seconded the motion.
    The Vote: Unanimous YES
  • Record keeper for REA retired members and Grapevine ads: Ana G. will be the record-keeper of REA retired membership. Brittanie Brecheen will be the record-keeper of the Grapevine classifieds.
  • Event coordinator attendance at events: Ana G. made a motion to amend the REA Events Policy to state event coordinators will be exempt of the planned event fees (maximum of 2 tickets). Jenny H. seconded the motion.
    The Vote: Unanimous YES
  • Wine & Paint Event: Mieke S. will look into the Community Room as a potential venue (if consumption of alcohol is allowed). Also will start looking for a paint instructor. Please email recommendations to msheffield@cityofredding.org.
  • Use of PayPal: No update at this time.
  • Spring Event: No update at this time.

New Business

  • 2019 tax forms: Agreement to continue to contract with Winkler & Associates to file REA’s 2019 tax forms. Sonja M. will prepare the associated annual fiscal report.
  • Easter Egg Hunt: Date for the annual REA Easter Egg Hunt has been set for 4/13/19, 10am. Additional details to follow.
  • Cinco de Mayo: REA Cinco de Mayo Lunch has been scheduled for Friday 5/3/19 in the Community Room. Additional details to follow.
  • Gift cards for monthly birthday winners: Sonja M. proposed that the amount of the monthly birthday winner gift card be increased from $25 to $50. Matter will be voted on at the next REA meeting.
